Print Pomona Art Book Fair 2024 founded by Julian Lucas in 2018 and in partnership with the Benton Museum at Pomona College, will begin its yearly event celebrating the unique art publishing community within Los Angeles County, San Gabriel Valley, and Inland Empire, while providing an opportunity for local, national and international publishers to exhibit their work to a new audience.
PPABF features artists lectures, presentations, and artist facilitated programs over the course of four days. Exhibitor curated sections, publication-focused exhibitions, and book signings and launches will be included.

Echo Park Protest Two Thousand Twenty One opens at Stories Echo Park Books & Cafe, Los Angeles, CA on October 20th. Stories will present a thematic showcase of Julian's photographic works from the 2021 Echo Park protest which took place when a the unhoused was forcibly displaced by Los Angeles Police Department. During the protest LAPD officers focused primarily on journalists who were covering the protest which led to over 16 journalists being forcibly detained under the supervision of council person Mitch O’Ferrall. The work includes custom framed darkroom prints on archival fiber paper.
This body of work comes timely because of the November 8, 2022 elections.

Synthesis opens at Bunny Gunner Gallery, Claremont, CA on October 1st. The gallery will present a thematic showcase of Julian's photographic works from various bodies of work generated between 2014 and 2022, and will include framed darkroom prints on archival fiber paper printed by the artist. As a part of the immersive body of work, there will be an installation of unframed photographic prints.
The works displayed under the term Synthesis were entirely self-funded. The photographs are documentary or photojournalistic in nature. Each shot offers a sense of events, the results of a larger picture.
"I'm seeking a visual synthesis combining all of these components to create something specifically from my experience. Each image is a retelling of the same narrative. My ultimate objective is to develop a new alternative point of view."
Gente Organizada Public Art Exhibition
Most recently, I collaborated with Gente Organizada a community-led social action non-profit organization that build intergenerational power and wellness for youth and immigrant families in Pomona. The collaboration was to feature photography as an artistic medium as public art and highlight the efforts of the Black Lives Matter Protests of 2020, which took place all over the world including the city of Pomona.
