Tarrio was arrested by Washington, D.C. police on January 4, 2021 and charged with one misdemeanor count of destruction of property. According to a police spokesperson, this was in connection to the burning of a Black Lives Matter banner stolen from a Washington, D.C. church during a pro-Trump march on December 12, 2020 that drew around 200 Proud Boys.
